Sri Bagalamukhi is one of the ten Mahavidyas. They are worshiped and practiced both in the south and north by the Amna system. This is one such goddess who is worshiped by the seekers of the left and south paths. His Bhairav is Anand Bhairav and Ganesha Haridra Ganesha. His Shiva is a Mukhi Maharudra and the night is Veeraratri. In his practice, both heroic and divine expressions are predominant. Atharvasutra form Shakti is called Vulgamukhi, Vulga is the Vedic name. This Vedic Vulga name is called Bagala in Agam i.e. Tantra. श्री बगलामुखी दस महाविद्याओं में से एक है। इनकी उपासना या साधना दक्षिण व उत्तर दोनों ही आम्ना पद्धति से की जाती है। यही एक ऐसी देवी है जो वाम व दक्षिण मार्ग के साधकों द्वारा आराधित है। इनके भैरव आनंद भैरव व गणेश हरिद्रा गणेश है। इनके शिव एक मुखी महारुद्र है तथा रात्रि वीररात्रि है। इनकी साधना में वीर व दिव्य दोनों ही भावों की प्रधानता है। अथर्वासूत्र रूप शक्ति वल्गामुखी कहलाती है, वल्गा वैदिक नाम है। यही वैदिक वल्गा नाम आगम अर्थात तन्त्र में बगला कहलाता है। इसलिए वल्गामुखी या बगलामुखी में कोई अंतर नहीं है, दोनों एक ही है। प्राय: साधकजन नाम के फेर से भ्रमित होते भी देखे गए है। बगलामुखी को श्रीविद्या, ब्रह्मविद्या भी कहा जाता है। इनकी सर्वप्रथम आराधना भगवान विष्णु ने की थी। ये शत्रु का दमन करने वाली व साधक का हित साधने वाली महाशक्ति है। अत: साधकों को इनकी साधना द्वेषवश कभी नहीं करनी चाहिए। इतना भी बता देना आवश्यक है कि इनकी साधना गुरु के सान्निध्य में और उनके निर्देशानुसार ही करनी चाहिए।
