ऐसा माना जाता है कि श्री रामचरित मानस शिवजी का हृदय है। आपने अनुभव किया होगा कि जब भी श्री शिवजी की तस्वीर या प्रतिमा देखो तो उपासना करती हुई प्रतीत होती है। यही देखकर पार्वती देवी ने शिवजी से प्रश्न किया था कि जिसका उत्तर शिवजी ने रामचरित मानस के रूप में दिया है।
जब हम कहते है कि अमुक स्तोत्र या पाठ अमुक का हृदय है, जैसे कि हनुमान हृदय, योगिनी हृदयादि जैसे पाठ पाये जाते हैं तो यह समझा जाता है कि यह पाठ या स्तोत्र स्वयं वही देवता है जैसे कि हनुमान ह्रदय कहा गया तो वह हृदय नामक पाठ स्वयं हनुमान ही है। इसी भांति योगिनी हृदय कहा गया तो यह स्तोत्र स्वयं योगिनी है, सम्भवतः यही कारण है कि यह पाठ अपने भीतर स्पष्ट प्रभाव रखते हैं।
श्री रामचरित मानस को शिवजी का हृदय माना जाता है तो यह स्पष्ट हो जाता है कि श्री रामचरित मानस स्वयं शिव है। शिवजी को आदि गुरु भी माना जाता है, क्योंकि भारत में प्रचलित सबसे अधिक विद्यायें स्वयं शिवजी के द्वारा प्रदान की गई हैं। प्रभु श्री राम की पूजा करके गुरूवार वाले दिन से कमलगटटे की माला पर प्रात: और सायंकाल के समय नित्य प्रति 108 बार इस मन्त्र को जपते हुए 21 दिन तक निरन्तर जपादि को सुचारू ढंग से चलाते रहें। इस प्रकार मन्त्र का प्रयोग करने पर प्रभु की कृपा प्राप्त होती हैं और दुर्भाग्य का अन्त हो जाता है।
