According to Hindu scripture, the Sun is one of the three chief deities of the Vedas but he also receives worship in tantric literature. He is leader of the nine planets (graham) and, in later times, worship of the Sun by the Saura division of the tantric became worship of his son, Saturn or Shani, and took on something of a dark colour.

सूर्य कवच/Surya kavach
श्री गणेशाय नमः
श्रुणुष्व मुनिशार्दूल सूर्यस्य कवचं शुभम् ।
शरीरारोग्यदं दिव्यं सर्व सौभाग्यदायकम् ॥1॥
दैदिप्यमानं मुकुटं स्फ़ुरन्मकरकुण्डलम् ।
ध्यात्वा सहस्रकिरणं स्तोत्रमेतदुदीरयेत्॥2॥
शिरो मे भास्करः पातु ललाटे मेSमितद्दुतिः।
नेत्रे दिनमणिः पातु श्रवणे वासरेश्वरः॥3॥
घ्राणं धर्म धृणिः पातु वदनं वेदवाहनः।
जिह्वां मे मानदः पातु कंठं मे सुरवंदितः॥4॥
स्कंधौ प्रभाकरं पातु वक्षः पातु जनप्रियः।
पातु पादौ द्वादशात्मा सर्वागं सकलेश्वरः॥5॥
सूर्यरक्षात्मकं स्तोत्रं लिखित्वा भूर्जपत्रके।
दधाति यः करे तस्य वशगाः सर्वसिद्धयः॥6॥
सुस्नातो यो जपेत्सम्यक् योSधीते स्वस्थ मानसः।
स रोगमुक्तो दीर्घायुः सुखं पुष्टिं च विंदति॥7॥
Surya kavach/सूर्य कवच विशेष:
सूर्य कवच के साथ-साथ यदि सूर्य स्तोत्र का पाठ किया जाए तो, सूर्य कवच का बहुत लाभ मिलता है, यह कवच शीघ्र ही फल देने लग जाता है| सूर्य यंत्र की पूजा करने से मनोवांछित कामना पूर्ण होती है, सूर्य यन्त्र प्रकाश लाता है और आसपास से अंधकार को दूर करता है| नकारात्मक ऊर्जा को दूर करने के लिए सूर्य यन्त्र कवच धारण करना चाहिए| सूर्य के अशुभ प्रभावों को शांत करने के लिए सूर्य फेस उपयोग करना चाहिए| सूर्य ग्रह के अशुभ प्रभावों से बचने के लिए सूर्य ग्रह के लिए उपाय करने चाहिए| स्वास्थ्य, सुख, समृद्धि और सफलता पाने के लिए सूर्य गुटिका की रोज़ पूजा करनी चाहिए| यदि कोई साधक सूर्य साधना करने की इच्छा रखते है तो उसे सूर्य ग्रह मन्त्र के अनुसार साधना करनी चाहिए|
