Dhurjata Mala/Dhurjata Puja Rosary (धुर्जाटा माला): Dhurjaṭa is the name of a Gaṇa (servant of Shiva and/or Parvati), according to the Kathasaritsagara. Accordingly, when the goddess (Parvati) uttered this command, one Gaṇa named Dhurjata said, ‘Goddess, this is very unjust; these excellent Gaṇas do not deserve such a severe curse for a very small offense”. The Kathāsaritsāgara (Ocean of Story Streams), mentioning Dhurjaṭa, is a famous Sanskrit epic story about Prince Naravahanadatta and his quest to become the emperor of the Vidyadharas (celestial beings).
This work is said to have been an adaptation of Guṇḍhya’s Bṛihatkathā consisting of 100,000 verses, which in turn is part of a larger work containing 700,000 verses. Dhurjata means something in Hinduism, Sanskrit. Dhurjata Mala is a benevolent rosary. Its design removes the inauspiciousness of the planets.
