काली तन्त्र दश महाविद्यान्तर्गत भगवती काली की आराधना का एक प्रामाणिक ग्रन्थ है৷ कलि में काली तथा विनायक को ही तांत्रिक दृष्टि से विशेष फलदायक माना गया है৷ अखण्ड काल से उन्मिषित कलनात्मिका शक्ति ही काली है৷ अतएव काल के अन्तर्गत् काल के शासन में रहने वाले सचेतन वर्ग मात्र पर भगवती काली का आधिपत्य है৷ इस दृष्टि से काली तन्त्र में भगवती की यथार्थ उपासना का रूप प्रस्तुत किया गया है৷ रुद्रचण्डी तन्त्र प्राचीन रुद्रयामल तन्त्र का ही एक अध्याय रूप है৷ इसका प्रचलन बंगाल में अधिक देखा जाता है৷ इस ग्रन्थ के वर्णों में मन्त्र शक्ति अन्त र्निहित है৷ अन्य बहुत से पाठ की तरह इसमें कर्म काण्ड बहुलता नहीं है৷
यह सर्वजन साध्य प्रक्रिया युक्त शास्त्र है৷ गुरुगण के अनुसार यह ग्रन्थ पाठ त्वरित फलदायी भी है৷ कालीतन्त्र की व्याख्या प्रस्तुत करने के पूर्व काली के स्वरूप की गुरुजनों द्वारा कही गई विवेचना को प्रस्तुत करना आवश्यक प्रतीत होता है৷ देवार्चन के पूर्व अर्चित देवता के स्वरूप – सत्ता की उपलब्धि किये विना अर्चना सम्भव ही नहीं होती৷ भगवती कालिका का स्वरूप अनन्त रहस्यों से आवृत है৷ उनकी कृपा से इस सम्बन्ध में जो कुछ अभिज्ञता प्राप्त हो सकी है, उसी के आधार पर यहाँ प्रकाश प्रक्षेपण किया जा रहा है; साथ ही कौलमार्ग की भी यथासाध्य विवेचना की जा रही है৷
