The plant of Madar (Calotropis Gigantea Benefits) is of two types, one is white Madar and another is Red Madar. White Madar is a rare earth. This is usually available in India but very rare. आर्क का पौधा दो प्रकार का होता है, एक श्वेतार्क दूसरा रक्तार्क श्वेत आर्क की प्राप्ति बहुत दुर्लभ है। यह मिलता तो प्राय: भारत के सभी प्रदेशों में है, परन्तु बहुत कम मात्रा में पाया जाता है। रक्तार्क के पौधे जिनके फूल, गुलाबी, नीली आभा लिए होते है। वह हर स्थान पर सुलभ और आसानी से मिल जाते है। इस पौधे की ऊँचाई 6-7 फुट, और झाड 4-5 फुट, सब तरफ फैला होता है। कहीं कहीं इसका विस्तार इससे भी अधिक होता है। इसकी मोटी टहनियां, बरगद के पेड़ जैसे पत्ते, गुच्छेदार सफेद दूध जैसे फूल और अलसी के बीजों जैसे बीज होते है। आर्क को वैदिक शास्त्र में दिव्य औषधि माना जाता है। इसका दूध सफेद होता है जो बहुत विषैला होता है।

दिव्य औषधि प्रयोग :

वैदिक शास्त्र में श्वेत आर्क को दिव्य औषधि माना जाता है। उदाहरण के लिए, आर्क के दूध को बारह पहर तक गाय के घी में खरल करना चाहिए। यह घी यदि एक रत्ती लेकर मूत्रेन्द्रिय पर मालिश करें तो हस्त मैथुन द्वारा पैदा नपुंसकता मिट जाती है।
