The Vedas are also among the most ancient texts in the world. In Indian culture, the Vedas are the core and most ancient texts of Sanatana and Varna Ashrama Dharma. The word ‘Veda’ is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘vid’, which means ‘to know,’ thus the literal meaning of Veda is ‘Knowledge’.

From this root, words such as ‘Vidit’ (known), ‘vidya’ (knowledge), and ‘Vidwan’ (wise) have originated. These sacred verses, known as “Shruti”, are thought to be the divine language of the gods. “Shruti” originates from the root word “Shru”, meaning “To hear”. Ancient ascetics received these mantras through deep meditation, believing them to be direct revelations from God (Brahman).

Initially, God revealed this knowledge of four sages: Agni, Vayu, Angira, and Aditya. The Vedas people regard it as the ultimate truth. They encompass knowledge of all worldly and otherworldly subjects. Each Veda consists of four parts: the Veda Samhita, Brahmana texts, Aranyaka, and Upanishads. This book contains 180 key hymns from each of the four Vedas. Which will always aid readers in their pursuit of knowledge.

‘श्रु’ धातु से ‘श्रुति’ शब्द बना है৷ ‘श्रु’ यानी सुनना৷ कहते हैं कि इसके मन्त्रों को ईश्वर (ब्रह्म) ने प्राचीन तपस्वियों को अप्रत्यक्ष रूप से सुनाया था जब वे गहरी तपस्या में लीन थे৷ सर्वप्रथम ईश्वर ने चार ऋषियों को इसका ज्ञान दिया: अग्नि, वायु, अंगिरा और आदित्य৷ वेदों को परम सत्य माना गया है৷ उनमें लौकिक अलौकिक सभी विषयों का ज्ञान भरा पड़ा है৷ प्रत्येक वेद के चार अंग है৷ वे हैं वेदसंहिता, ब्राह्मण-ग्रन्थ, आरण्यक तथा उपनिषद৷ इस पुस्तक में चारों वेदों के 180 प्रति वेद के प्रमुख सूक्तियां दिया गया है৷ जो की पाठकों के ज्ञान वृद्धि में सदा सहायक है৷
