Devi Gita Book
This Devi Gita Book (देवी गीता पुस्तक) contains information about Shri Jagdamba Devi, Janamejaya Uvach, and Vyas Uvach. It is an ancient Hindu philosophical text from the Devi-Bhagavata Purana, a major text of the Shakta devotees as a dialogue between Mahadevi and King Himavan. It is one of the sixty-four Gitas commonly mentioned in Hindu scriptures. Devi Gita constitutes the last ten chapters of the seventh Skanda of the Devi Bhagavatam.
In the Puranas, one will find several Gitas and many mahatmyas. The difference is that in the mahatma, the glorification of the deity is by recounting the various deeds of God and offering praise to the divinity. A gita, on the other hand, is a direct revelation of the truth from the disciple. Which often includes the manifestation of the cosmic form. While Mahatmas emphasize bhakti, the Gita stresses a balance of bhakti and jnana.
