Brahmasutra Vedant Darshan Book
Brahmasutra Vedant Darshan Book (ब्रह्मसूत्र वेदान्त दर्शन पुस्तक): Brahma Sutra is the foundational text of Vedanta philosophy. Its author is Maharishi Badnarayana. It is also famous as Vedanta Sutra, Uttara Mimamsa Sutra, Shariraka Sutra, and Bhikshu Sutra, among others. Many scholars have also written commentaries on it. The Brahma Sutra unifies the philosophical and spiritual thoughts of the Upanishads in a condensed form.
The three main pillars of Vedanta are the Upanishads, Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, and Brahma Sutra. These three have the names Prasthana Traya. In this, the Upanishads are the Shruti Prasthana, the Gita is the Smriti Prasthana, and the Brahma Sutras are the Nyaya Prasthana. Referring to the Brahma Sutras as Nyaya Prasthana means that they present Vedanta in a completely logical manner.
According to ancient tradition, Badnarayana is the author of the Vedanta Sutra. Although, these Sutras mention Badarayana’s name and quote his views, leading some to consider it the work of a later compiler rather than Badarayana himself. Sometimes, Badarayana and Vyasa are regarded as the same. Jaimini mentions Badarayana in his Purva Mimamsa Sutra, and Badarayana mentions Jaimini in the Brahma Sutras.
