Bhav Prakash Book (भाव प्रकाश पुस्तक) is an original text of Ayurveda. Bhava Prakash, Madhavnidan, and Sharangdhar Samhita together are ‘Laghutrayi’ (while Charak Samhita, Sushrut Samhita, and Astangahruday are collectively famous as ‘Brihattrayi’). The composer did the composition of Bhava Prakash between the years 1500 and 1600. This text is unique regarding subject matter and structure because it encompasses the entire Ayurvedic literature. Ancient scholars such as Charak, Sushrut, and Vagbhata share their knowledge in this text.

There is no other text in Ayurveda where a comprehensive and well-organized description of all aspects of Ayurvedic knowledge is available. In this text, there is a description in the Sanskrit language of all types of botanical (audbhij), zoological, and mineral substances found on Earth. Moreover, this text contains invaluable knowledge gathered through the Shastra-prescribed method. That is by visiting forests and mountains to identify and learn about medicinal plants. The appendix section at the end of this text guides the integrated traditional medical systems of Ayurveda and Unani medicine.

आयुर्वेद में ऐसा कोई अन्य ग्रंथ नहीं है जिसमें आयुर्वेद के सम्पूर्ण अंगों का इतना समुचित एवं सुव्यवस्थित वर्णन प्राप्त होता हो৷ इस ग्रन्थ में पृथ्वी पर प्राप्त सभी प्रकार के वानस्पतिक (औद्भिज), प्राणिज व पार्थिव पदार्थों के गुणकर्मों का संस्कृत भाषा में श्लोकबद्ध वर्णन मिलता है৷ इस ग्रन्थ में वनौषधियों के निर्णय और स्वरूप ज्ञान के लिए शास्त्र-निर्दिष्ट पद्धति से वनों और पर्वतों में जाकर अमूल्य ज्ञान का संग्रह है৷ इस ग्रन्थ के अंत में लिखा गया परिशिष्ट भाग आयुर्वेद और यूनानी चिकित्सा का समन्वित देशी चिकित्सा प्रणाली का मार्ग दर्शन करता है৷
