आप सबके समक्ष यह पुस्तक स्वप्न सिद्धान्त प्रस्तुत है। इस पुस्तक में क्या है और इसके लेखन का ध्येय क्या है? यह यहाँ पर व्यक्त कर रहा हूँ। मैंने पिछले अनेक वर्षो में विभिन्न विषयों पर कार्य किया है जिसमे से एक विषय स्वप्न भी था। अपने अनुभवों और चरित्र अध्ययन के आधार पर स्वप्न ही विशेषता से सम्बंधित मुझे भी स्पष्ट करना व कहना है कि स्वप्न प्रतीकात्मक अर्थात् ‘सिम्बोलाजिकल’ होते है जो कि अपने आप में कोई न कोई सन्देश लिए रहते हैं। इन सन्देशों को हमारे आर्ष मनीषियों ने बहुत पहले अनुभव कर लिया था। इसी विषय पर विदेशों में अत्यधिक शोध-कार्य हुआ और इसे भिन्न-भिन्न दृष्टियों से देखा गया। ‘जिसका जितना ज्ञान, उसका उतना मान’ वाले सिद्धान्तानुसार विद्वान् क्रमश: कार्यरत रहे। -Swapan Siddhant Book .
भारतीय विद्वानों ने स्वप्न विषय पर बहुत कार्य किया है संभवतः यही कारण है कि साईकिल और रेलगाड़ी विषयक स्वप्नों के भी फलादेश प्राप्त होते हैं जबकि यह शीर्षक प्राचीन नहीं है। स्वप्न समीक्षा करने पर कभी-कभी लगता था कि यह जो व्यक्ति अपना स्वप्न सुना रहा है उसके भीतर कुछ रूचि भी है और इसी रहस्य की खोज का परिणाम है स्वप्न सिद्धान्त। जब दृष्टा स्वप्नावस्था में कोई स्वप्न देखता था तो उसे शुभ या अशुभ नामक दो विभागों में बाँट लिया करता था। शुभ स्वप्न के कारण व्यक्ति मस्त रहता था जबकि अशुभ स्वप्न के निवारण को महामृत्युंजय जप करवाया जाता था और यह कोई सोचता भी नहीं था कि जीव तो प्रतिदिन स्वप्न देखता है जिसमे से सभी स्वप्न शुभ नहीं होते है तो क्या रोज ही जप करवाया जाता? पर क्या किया जाये? यह तथाकथित पण्डित जानते हैं कि अमुक देवता का स्मरण व नाम लेने से स्वप्नों की अशुभता समाप्त हो जाती है परन्तु किसी को बताते ही नहीं है क्योंकि दुकानदरी भी तो है। ख़ैर, मुझे इन पंडितो से मतलब नहीं है कि वह क्या करते है और क्या नहीं करते? -Swapan Siddhant Book .
