Prashna Shastra is an important part of astrology, in which case the exact result of all questions of the query is given on the basis of question papers, without elaborate mathematics like birth certificate or year fold. The orderly history of this scripture comes from the time of Varahamihira. Although it has been discussed in the preceding texts, the basic theories of question theory-especially in the scriptures have been included in a chapter of question papers or quizzes. However, this science was fully developed during the time of Acharya Varahmihir and had received respect in the scholars independently. प्रश्न-शास्त्र फलित ज्योतिष का वह महत्वपूर्ण अंग है, जिसमें जन्मपत्र या वर्षफल जैसी लम्बी-चौड़ी गणित के बिना मात्र प्रश्नकुण्डली के आधार पर पृच्छक के समस्त प्रश्नों का यथार्थ फल बताया जाता है। इस शास्त्र का क्रमबद्ध इतिहास हमें वराहमिहिर के समय से मिलता है। यद्यपि इससे पूर्ववर्ती ग्रन्थों में भी प्रश्नशास्त्र के आधारभूत सिद्धांतो की चर्चा की गई है-विशेषतः संहिता ग्रन्थों में प्रश्न विद्या या प्रश्नशास्त्र का एक अध्याय में समावेश किया गया है। तथापि यह शास्त्र आचार्य वराहमिहिर के समय में पूर्ण विकसित होकर स्वतंत्र रूप से विद्वत्समाज में आदर प्राप्त हो चुका था। वराहमिहिर के प्रसिद्ध प्रश्न ग्रन्थ दैवज्ञवल्लभा से इस शास्त्र के विकास की एक परम्परा शुरू हुई और उनके पुत्र भी पृथुयशा एवं आचार्य भट्टोत्पल ने क्रमश: षट्पंचाशिका एवं प्रश्नज्ञान की रचना से इस परम्परा को आगे बढ़ाया। प्रश्न-शास्त्र में सैकड़ों मौलिक ग्रन्थों का एक भण्डार दिखलाई देता है, जिनमें विविध प्रश्नों का शास्त्रीय विवेचन करने के लिए अनेक उपयोगी सिद्धान्तों का व्याख्यान दिया गया है, किन्तु ये सभी लघुकाय-ग्रन्थ दैनिक जीवन में घटित होने वाली घटनाओं या उनसे सम्बन्धी प्रश्नों का उतने विस्तार से विवेचन नहीं कर पाते, जितनी विस्तृत जानकारी फलादेश करने वाले ज्योतिषी के लिए अपेक्षित होती है। प्रश्न-मार्ग हमारे दैनन्दिन जीवन से सम्बंधित समस्त प्रश्नों का विस्तृत एवं शास्त्रीय विवेचन करता हुआ उक्त अभाव की पूर्ति करता है। – Prashna Marg Book.
