The main objective of this Parashar Hora Book (Vol I & II) is to make the readers aware of the main features of this Vedic treatise on Jyotish and to explain how it differs from other texts on this subject available to date. A very concerted effort was given to collect, and collate all the available manuscripts and other related published material contributed by eminent contemporary authors and commentators and then align the sequence of the contents in such a manner that it is understandable and authentic. The name of this composite text is also per the ancient statement and inscription i.e. ‘Parashara Hora’.

This book presents some significant features that were never before. This book consisting of a hundred chapters conforms with the “Hora Shatadhyayi Sarva Paap Vinashini” shloka mentioned in the Uttara Khanda of the text compiled by Shridhar. Other contemporary authors of such texts namely Sitaram Jha, Devachandra Jha, Tarachand Shastri, etc. Have formatted this text by including chapters but in most cases not more than 20 chapters were from ‘Hora Shastra’. This note also elaborates on the deletion of inappropriate shlokas, addition of relevant shlokas and purposeful rearrangement of some shlokas. Moreover, the treatment of some topics is so unique that the readers’ lack of experience gets compensation. These more than 20 supplementary research chapters extracted from published and manuscript material. Those are not available in any of the present-day texts of Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra (BPHS).
