Aryabhatiyam Book (आर्यभटीयम् पुस्तक): The present text is established as the first scripture of Indian astrology principles. Scholars have accepted this scripture as the Arya Siddhanta of the Jyotisha Shastra. This Aryabhata scripture consists of ten chapters, namely Dasha Gitika, Ganit, Kalkriya, and Golpad, which together make up four sections. One of the unique features of this scripture is that several commentaries are there on it so far.
Subsequently, in 629 CE, Bhaskara I wrote a commentary on this scripture. Following him, the commentators of Aryabhateeya include Acharya Someshwar, Suryadev Yajvan, Parameshwar, Neelkanth, Yallay, Raghunatharaj, Virupaksha Suri, and his son Madhav, Bhootvishnu, Ghatitop, Kodandram, Acharya Krishna, Krishna Das, etc. Among Indian mathematicians, the creator of this Aryabhatiya scripture, Aryabhata, holds an extremely high position. The other Indian scholars also praised Aryabhata.

आर्यभटीयम् पुस्तक
प्रस्तुत ग्रन्थ भारतीय ज्योतिष शास्त्र के सिद्धान्त स्कन्ध के प्रथम ग्रन्थ के रूप में प्रतिष्ठित है। इस ग्रन्थ को विद्वानों ने ज्यौतिषशास्त्र के आर्यपक्षीय ‘आर्यसिद्धान्त’ के रूप में स्वीकार किया है। इस आर्यभट ग्रन्थ के दशगीतिका, गणित, कालक्रिया और गोलपाद मिलाकर कुल चार पाद हैं। इस ग्रन्थ की अन्यतम विशेषता ही है कि अब तक इस ग्रन्थ की अनेक टीकायें लिखी जा चुकी हैं।
तदनन्तर भास्कर प्रथम ने ६२९ ई० में इस ग्रन्थं की टीका की है, फिर उसके बाद क्रमशः आर्यभटीय के टीकाकारों में आचार्य सोमेश्वर, सूर्यदेव यज्वन्, परमेश्वर, नीलकण्ठ, यल्लय, रघुनाथराज, विरूपाक्ष सूरी और उसके पुत्र माधव, भूतविष्णु, घटीटोप, कोदण्डराम, आचार्य कृष्ण, कृष्ण दास आदि का नाम प्रमुखता से लिया जाता है। इन आचार्यों की टीकायें प्रायः उपलब्ध हैं। भारतीय गणितज्ञों में इस आर्यभटीय ग्रन्थ के रचयिता आर्यभट का अत्यन्त श्रेष्ठ स्थान है। आर्यभट की प्रशंसा प्रायः भारतीयेतर विद्वानों ने भी की है।
