Ling Baan Shivling/Original Ling Baan Shivling (लिंग बाण शिवलिंग): Ling Baan Shivalinga is available only on this land only in the river Narmada. This is the self-sacrificing Shivalinga. In it, the Nirguna, the formless Brahma Lord Shiva is himself reputed. It is considered as self-conscious as Salagrama Shila, it does not require Prana-Pratishtha. Original Ling Baan Shivling is called Vanling because Banasur had been honored by Mahadev with austerity that he would always be seen in Amarkantak Mountain in the form of ling.
Narmada River flows through the mountains of Amarkantak. Some pebbles move with the flow of water and form the shape of Shivalinga. Hence, people consider them as Shiva and are famous as ‘Banaling’ and ‘Narmadeshwar’. Narmada River is in India and flows in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. It is also a belief that where there is Ling Baan Shivaling, Lord Shiva Himself resides there. The history of Ling Baan dates back centuries and the formation of this Shiva Linga is very unique in its own right. It’s a belief that the waves of the Narmada River make particularly some stones in the river and thus this Linga forms its oval shape.
However, this process takes thousands of years together and that is why it is so auspicious. Anyone can even hear the sound of water inside the Linga when shaken. Ling Baan Shivaling is also a manifestation of Lord Shiva and it helps the devotee in connecting with supreme Lord Shiva. It is a proven fact that where there is a Shivaling, Lord Shiva Himself resides there.
