Safed Janeu/White Janeu Thread (सफेद जनेऊ): Safed Janeu is called “Yajnopavit” in Sanskrit. It is a sacred thread made from our thread which is worn on the left shoulder and under the right arm. That is, people place it on the neck so that it rests on the left shoulder. There are three scriptures in Janeu – Trimurti – the symbol of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh – Dev Hrina, Pitri Hrina, and Rishi Hrina – a symbol of Sattva, Raj, and Tama. Also, these three mantras are symbols of three levels of Gayatri mantra and three ashrams.
Each thread of White Janeu has three or three threads. So the total field is nine. There are nine in total, including a mouth, two noses, two eyes, two ears, and two toilets. This means – we speak well with our mouths, eat well, see well with our eyes, and hear well with our ears. Janeu has five nodes representing Brahma, Dharma, Sacrifice, Work, and Salvation. Safed Janeu is also a symbol of five Yajnas, five centers of knowledge, and panch karma.
Length Safed Janeu is 96 fingers in length because the person holding the Janeu should try to learn 64 Arts and 32 Lessons. 32 God has four kings, four arms, six arms, six pearls of wisdom, three places, and nine Aranyakas. 64 Art users in architecture, ceramics, painting, literature, arts and crafts.
