Bhairav Ganda Kavach/Siddha Ganda Kavach (भैरव गंडा कवच): According to Shiva Purana, Kaal Bhairavwas born on Ashtami Tithi itself. That is from Lord Shiva, hence Ashtami Tithi is also known as Kalashtami, Kaal Bhairav Ashtami or Bhairav Ashtami. It is a belief that worshiping this form of Lord Shiva and Siddha Ganda Kavach on this day ends all fears and obstacles. Batuk Bhairav looks like a 7-8-year-old boy holding the head of Brahma in one hand and Trishula with Damru in the other. Batuknath was very innocent and his meditations were very fruitful.
According to Rudrashtadhyayi and Bhairav Tantra, Bhairav is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. As a gift from Brahma, Bhairav of Bhairav Ganda Kavach is able to feed the entire world, hence his name “Bhairav”. Kaal is also afraid of him, that’s why he is famous as “Kaal Bhairav”. His name was “Amardak” because he oppressed the wicked. Kaal Bhairav is a fierce image of Lord Shiva who is also the god of the tantric mantra. Bhairav Baba also punishes all sinners, hence he is also famous as Dandapani.
The bearer of Lord Bhairav Natha is a dog. So it is very virtuous to feed a dog on this day and the devotee gets the desired fruit. Bhairav of Bhairav Ganda Kavach was born from the trinity flame of Rudra Shiva. He lives for the destruction of ego and inauthenticity. People worship Rudra as a fire god but he has a very gentle and subtle form of Batuk Bhairav. There are eight forms of Bhairav, which is the Batuk form for boys of 14-15 years.
