वह फिर पूछता है, “हम अपने पर्यावरण को प्रदूषित क्यों रखते हैं? पुरुषों और महिलाओं के साथ अलग-अलग व्यवहार क्यों किया जाता है?” उसके माता-पिता उसकी इस आदत और उसके बार-बार पूछे जाने वाले सवालों से बहुत चिंतित रहते हैं। एक ऐसे गाँव में जहाँ अधिकतर लोग अनपढ़ ही हैं, वहाँ उसके माता-पिता के अलावा कोई भी उसके सवालों का जवाब नहीं दे पाता। उसके माता-पिता कई बार उसके प्रश्नों को सुनकर कुछ उत्तर भी देना चाहते हैं लेकिन आखिरकार उनकी भी अपनी सीमाएँ हैं। वे करें भी तो क्या करें! और उधर ‘क्यों’ के प्रश्न दिनों-दिन दुरूह होते जा रहे थे।
