Sutji continued – In the nineteenth Kalpa named Shweta lohit, the first incarnation of Lord Shiva was known as Sadyojat. In that Kalpa, while meditating on Parabrahm, the son named Shweta Lohit Kumar was born to Lord Brahma. At that time, Lord Brahma started repeatedly contemplating Sadyojat Shiva. However, from his meditation, sons named Sunandan, Nandan, Vishwanandan, and Upnandan were born. Then Sadyojat Kumar gave knowledge to Brahma Ji and empowered him to create the universe.

In the twentieth Kalpa named Rakta, Lord Brahma became red, and then a son named Vamdev. He was with red eyes and red skin, who became famous as Lord Shiva and praised by Lord Brahma. For instance, the red-colored boy had four sons named Viraj, Vivah, Vishok, and Vishwa Bhanu. Shiva instructed Brahma to create the universe through Vamdev.

शौनक जी बोले – हे महाराज सूतजी! आप मुझे कलियुग में कल्याण करने वाले भगवान शिवजी के अवतारों की सुखद कथा सुनाने की कृपा करें৷ सूतजी ने कहा कि यही रहस्यमयी कथा सुनने की इच्छा सनकुत्मार नन्दीश्वर के आगे प्रकट की थी৷ उन्होंने जैसा वर्णन किया था, वही मैं आपको सुनाता हूँ৷ आप ध्यान देकर सुनें৷

सूतजी बोले- श्वेतलोहित नामक उन्नीसवें कल्प में शिवजी का प्रथम अवतार सद्योजात नामक हुआ था৷ उस कल्प में पारब्रह्म का ध्यान करते हुए ब्रह्मा जी की शिखा श्वेतलोहित कुमार उत्पन्न हुए৷ तब ब्रह्मा जी उन्हें सद्योजात शिव जानकर उनका ही बार-बार चिन्तन करने लगे৷ उनके उस चिन्तन से सुनन्दन, नन्दन, विश्वनन्दन और उपनन्दन नामक बहुत से कुमार हुए৷ तब सद्योजात कुमार ने ब्रह्माजी को ज्ञान देकर सृष्टि उत्पन्न करने की शक्ति दी৷

रक्त नामक बीसवें कल्प में ब्रह्माजी रक्तवर्ण के हो गये और फिर उनके जैसा ही रक्तारक्त नेत्र और रक्तवर्ण वाला वामदेव नामक पुत्र उत्पन्न हुआ, जिसे साक्षात् शिव जानकर ब्रह्माजी ने उसकी स्तुति की৷ उस रक्तवर्ण बालक के विरज, विवाह, विशोक और विश्वभावन नामक चार पुत्र उत्पन्न हुए৷ वामदेव शिव ने ब्रह्मा को सृष्टि रचने की आज्ञा दी৷
