Engrossed in meditation, those sages came to know that, Lord Indra, would provide a solution to these diseases. Thereafter, Sage Bharadwaj unanimously went to the celestial world to obtain knowledge of Ayurveda from Indra.

कलियुग में धर्म का ह्रास होने के कारण पृथ्वी पर जीवों में व्याधियाँ उत्पन्न होने लगी तब प्राणियों पर दया भावना से विभिन्न महर्षिगण (भारद्वाज, वसिष्ठ, अंगिरा, कश्यप, गौतम, आत्रेय, विश्वामित्र आदि) हिमालय के समीप एकत्रित हुये। यही पृथ्वीलोक पर आयुर्वेद के अनुसन्धान का आरम्भ था। तथा यह आयुर्वेद का प्रथम परिषद् (सम्मेलन) था। उन ऋषियों ने ध्यानमग्न होकर यह जाना कि देवराज इन्द्र ही इन रोगों से शान्ति का उपाय बतायेंगे तथा महर्षि भारद्वाज सर्वसम्मति से आयुर्वेद ज्ञान प्राप्ति के लिये इन्द्र के पास देवलोक गये।
