सर्व सज्जन विद्वान् पुरुषों को विदित हो कि यह प्रश्न शिरोमणि नामक बृहत् ग्रन्थ श्रीयुत वाल्मीक वंशावतंस त्रिपाठी पण्डित राजरुद्रमणि विरचित है। इसके आद्यांत लेख से यह ज्ञात होता है कि आप जगदम्बा देवी के परम भक्त थे, इस ग्रन्थ की मनोहर सुललित कविता अवलोकन करने से श्रीयुत पण्डितराज का विद्वता गौरव भी विद्वानों के सामने छिपा नहीं रहता, आप व्याकरण, कोष, काव्य, छन्दोग्रन्थ, ज्योतिष शास्त्रादि विदयोदधि के पार गामी प्रतीत होते है,

परन्तु यह नहीं जान पड़ता कि श्रीमत पण्डितजी महाराज का निवास स्थान तथा इस ग्रन्थ का निर्माण समय क्या था, यह शीर्ण तथा अशुद्धरूप से उपस्थित था। मैंने परोपकार विचार कर बडे परिश्रम से इसको शुद्धतापूर्वक भाषानुवाद विभूषित करके श्रीयुत सेठ खेमराज श्रीकृष्णदासजी को छापने के लिए समर्पण कर दिया।
