Brihat Jataka, or ‘Vrihat Jatak’, is one of the five fundamental texts by Varahamihira. The other 4 texts written by him are Panchasiddhantika, Brihat Samhita, Laghu Jatakam, and Yoga Yatra. Along with this, this text is one of the five fundamental texts of Hindu astrology. Moreover, the other four texts are Saravali by Kalyan Varma and Sarvartha Chintamani by Venkatesh. Jatak Parijat by Vaidyanath and Phala Deepika by Mantreshwar. The original text is in Sanskrit and contains 407 shlokas in 28 chapters.
