Agya Chakra, Third Eye Chakra, Ajna Chakra

Agya Chakra/Ajna Chakra (Third Eye Chakra) is the location of the third eye which is the conscience. The two physical eyes see the past and the present, while the third eye reveals the insight of the future. The seed syllable is “Aum”, or “Pranava Om”, the supreme sound.

When one establishes himself in the place between the eyebrows he goes beyond all the kinds of desires that motivate life and impel one to move in many directions. All experience and ideas serve only to clarify one’s perceptions in Agya Chakra. The plane of neutrality (Saraswati) appears as a balance between solar and lunar energy within the body.

Ida (river Ganges, feminine, lunar) and Pingala (river Yamuna, masculine, solar) nerve energies separate from the Sushumna channel at the Mooladhara chakra, intertwine up through all chakras and meet with the Saraswati, becoming one at Agya Chakra. This brings the sense of oneness and of unity with the cosmic laws that appear in the plane of austerity. They then again separate, running into the left and right nostrils. Negative and positive, the components of duality become equalized in Saraswati, leaving a state of pure music and neutrality. One now becomes one-pointed; he becomes knower of past, present and future.

Ida and Pingala are time-bound; up to the fifth chakra the yogi also is time bound, but as Ida and Pingala end here, the yogi moves into Sushumna, beyond time. He is now in a state of non dual consciousness. The activation of Ajna chakra is said to lead to psychic powers (Siddhis) such as clairvoyance.

In the Agya Chakra the development of our wisdom and humanity is completed and we reach the bridge to Divine Consciousness. It is located at the upper end of the spinal column, at the point of transition from the spine to the brain. Its radiation is, however, primarily perceptible in the centre of the forehead between the eyebrows. Therefore, it is also known as the Kundli ChakraEyebrow Centre” or “Third Eye”. Another expression for the Ajna Chakra is “Guru Chakra – the Seat of the Master”.

The Agya Chakra is the Centre of clarity and wisdom. It forms the boundary between human and divine consciousness. Its symbol is a white Shiva Lingam, representative of creative consciousness.

In the yogic tradition, Agya Chakra is considered the centre of the spiritual perception.

The gradual awakening and the opening of the inner vision on this level means in fact the access to certain superior levels of consciousness that we each have potentially, latently, but which we cannot even imagine.

The systematic access to these superior levels of consciousness equals evading every day from the limits of the ephemeral daily reality.

Moreover, this means evading from the limited concepts of the consciousness that is mainly focused on experiences and phenomena in which we realize we are one with the Infinite. All these mean also surpassing the barrier of time, space and causality, which are apparently inexorable.

Agya Chakra, located in the brain right behind the eyebrow centre, is associated with the power of thought, imagination and abstract ideas and controls the entire personality of an individual.

A well balanced Agya Chakra displays charisma and intuitive brilliance in a person. People with a balanced chakra possess a calm mind and clarity of judgment.

Blockage of Agya Chakra may result in disharmony, aggression, stubbornness along with physical ailments like eyes and nose problems, headaches and blood circulation issues in the brain.

When Energy is not flowing freely in Agya Chakra, some of the following physical symptoms arise:

We can start by examining the reasons behind our high temper. Apart from the external factors that generate high temper in us, we also need to concentrate on the internal causes that lead to an imbalance of emotions resulting in high temper.

Reasons and Handling of High temper:

High temper is one of the easiest ways to force your thoughts and beliefs on others just to prove that you have a control over the situation. High temper for a brief period looks like it boosts your self-esteem which is actually not true. What could be the root cause of high temper? Behavioural science mentions a series of root causes ranging from fear of seeing to a mere expression of revolt. Treatment involves identifying the problem and involving the heated and annoyed member in finding the solution. As we execute these solutions we should also watch signs of blocked Ajna Chakra as the root cause of high temper.

Treatment of High Temper: Opening the Ajna Chakra

Ajna is situated at the centre of forehead. This works on seeing situations in the right perspective and things as they are without taking a rigid or perfectionist attitude towards anything. This is the area of third eye where we develop intuition and the capability of analysing situations in the right manner. This area gets blocked because of an attitude of high temper, non-acceptance and rigid beliefs about life. Also, the fear of failure, fear of seeing and fear of being overwhelmed with what would be found blocks this Chakra and the individual is unable to see a situation from all perspectives and thus isn’t able to make the right decisions. This could further manifest into lethargy and low self-esteem. High temper is one of the major results of this manifestation.
