Usually, when we see a seated Ganpati Murti, he is sitting on a throne or on a lotus flower. The most common sitting position is famous as Lalitasana. It shows Ganesha seated on a throne with his left leg folded and his right resting on the ground or vice versa. In some models, the Lord is seen sitting cross-legged on a lotus flower, and this particular position suggests that he is meditating.
