Deodar Herb/देवदार: Yajna can help bring about a cure in mental disorders like depression, neurosis, psychosis, schizophrenia, depression, melancholia, etc. Deodar Herb is one of the ingredient used as Samagri in it.

The following substances are fumigated in a Yajna:

Volatile healthy substances and phytomedicines are spread in the vapours, gases, colloidal output of Yajna, oral and nasal inhalation and skin transport of which bring the desired effects in a most natural way.
The inner wood of Deodar Herb is aromatic and used to make incense. Inner wood is distilled into essential oil. As insects avoid this tree, the essential oil is used as insect repellent on the feet of horses, cattle and camels. Deodar Herb also has anti fungal properties and has some potential for control of fungal deterioration of spices during storage. The outer bark and stem are astringent.
Because of its anti fungal and insect repellent properties, rooms made of Deodar (Cedrus deodar) wood are used to store meat and food grains like oats and wheat in Shimla, Kullu and Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. In Himachal people suffering from asthma or other respiratory problems are advised to sit under a Deodar tree early in the morning.
The Deodar Herb bark of Cedrus deodar contains large amounts of taxifolin. This cures many diseases when burnt in the Yajna. The inner wood is aromatic and used to make incense.
