Tantra Conch/Tantra Puja Shankh (तंत्र शंख): The meaning of the word “Shankham” is “conch holding sacred water”. As per the Vedic scriptures, the Tantra Puja Shankh is one of the most auspicious items. That came into being from the sea during the Ksheera Sagara Samudra Manthan. Therefore, he is considered the brother of Goddess Lakshmi, the ruler of wealth. Most gods and goddesses hold a tantric conch in their hands. Tantra Conch is one of the nine auspicious objects of the Nava Nidhi of Kuber, who is the Lord of wealth.

Blowing the Tantra Puja Shankh is considered an auspicious sound at the beginning or end of any ceremony. According to the Harivamsa Purana, Krishna killed a whale demon. Its name was Pancha-Jana. From the bones of this demon, Sankha’s existence came out. The name Panchajanya people give to a rare and strange shell formation. In that Tantra Conch, the cavity contains another smaller shell attached to it. A specimen preserved in the hilltop temple of Chamundeswari in Mysore contains yet another (third) shell.

The sacred Tantra Conch has an association with Vishnu, as well as the goddess of fertility and the Nagas. Its shape is like a vulva. It makes a highly symbolic part of tantric rituals. Moreover, it works as a protective amulet and offering to female deities. However, this tantric conch is the preserve of several gods and goddesses. For instance, Brahma at the seat (Shankhapitha or Shankhadhara), Surya in the middle, and Chandra at the tip. Aditya, Varuna, Soma, Vayu, and Agni are on the right side.

Tantra Conch Benefits:

Shankh gets the information from the twin gods Sun and Moon, and Varuna is its deity. On the back of the conch, it is Prajapati, and on the front the river goddesses Ganga and Saraswati.
So even a glance or touching a tantric conch shell eradicates sins, like darkness disappearing at sunrise. Vishnu holds Shankh in his hand. Therefore, the tantric conch shell one should worship. According to tantric texts, the tantric conch eradicates the evil spirits and saves a person from calamities.
