श्रावणी उपाकर्म एक वैदिक अनुष्ठान है जो ब्राह्मणों द्वारा किया जाता है, जिसमें जनेऊ (उपनयन धागा) बदला जाता है और साल भर में किए गए ज्ञात-अज्ञात पापकर्मों का प्रायश्चित किया जाता है। यह सावन पूर्णिमा के दिन किया जाता है। द्विजाति मात्र का आत्मशोधन कारक श्रावणी उपाकर्म पर्व वैदिक काल से ही मनाया जा रहा है शास्त्रोक्त पथ से चलते हुए भी मानव से स्वभावतः प्रमाद या अज्ञानतावशात् पाप कर्म हो ही जाते हैं, अतः ऋषियों ने उन पापकर्मों के पाप फलशमनार्थ प्रायश्चित्त रूप में श्रावणी उपाकर्म करने का निर्देश किया है, जो कि प्रतिवर्ष श्रावण शुक्ल पूर्णिमा को मनाया जाता है। श्रावणी उपाकर्म के दशविध स्नान तर्पण, सन्ध्योपासन (सूर्योपस्थान) ऋषि पूजन, यज्ञोपवीत प्रतिष्ठा व यज्ञोपवीत धारण प्रमुख अंग हैं।
किसी पवित्र जलाशय गंगादि नदियों के तट पर अधिक संख्या में लोग एकत्रित होकर श्रावणी उपाकर्म आचार्य या गुरु के निर्देशानुसार करते हैं । हेमाद्रि संकल्प जिसमें कि अनेक प्रकार के मानव सम्भावित पाप कर्मों के उल्लेखपूर्वक तत् शमन हेतु स्नान का संकल्प किया जाता है जिसको सुनने में भी व्यक्ति के मानस पटल पर उन कर्तव्यों को भविष्य में न करने की प्रेरणा मिलती है।
