Kalikapratishthavidhi Book
Kalikapratishthavidhi Book (कालिकाप्रतिष्ठाविधि पुस्तक): According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Kali emerged from the mouth of Goddess Durga to defeat the demon King, Raktabija. Although, her origin story is closely related to the sacrifice of King Daksha, who was a great devotee of Lord Shiva. Daksha organized a yajna (sacrificial ceremony) and invited all the gods, except for Lord Shiva, who was his son-in-law.
Daksha intended to belittle Shiva by excluding him from the ceremony. When Shiva learned about the yajna, he sent his wife, Goddess Parvati, to participate in the ceremony. Angered by Daksha’s behavior, Shiva created a fierce and terrifying form of Goddess Kali from the body of Mother Parvati. The dismembered parts of Daksha’s body were discarded, and from his severed head, a beautiful idol of Goddess Kali appeared, symbolizing his destruction.
Following this, devotees installed the idol in a temple, signifying the beginning of the worship of Goddess Kali. Kali worship symbolizes the cosmic struggle between good and evil, revealing the eternal nature of the universe. The idol of Goddess Kali people usually adorn with garlands of flowers, garlands of skulls, and a trident. Her terrifying, golden face represents her destructive power. That is purifying the minds of her devotees and granting them strength, courage, and spiritual development.
