Shri Ram Ashtakam is in Sanskrit. It is a beautiful creation of Vyasa Muni. Vyasa Muni says in this Shri Ram Ashtakam that He worships God Ram since God Ram removes all the sins of the devotee. God Ram always makes his devotees happy. He removes fear of his devotees. He is giver of true knowledge. He always blesses his devotees. This is only the short meaning of Shri Ram Ashtakam.

Shri Rama is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu who came down to earth for the destruction of Ravana. In Hindu tradition, Lord Rama is considered the Marayada Purushottam, the perfect man who exemplifies the heights of perfection a human being can achieve. Along with Lord Krishna, He is considered to be one of the most important avatars of Lord Vishnu, the preserver and upholder of Dharma and part of the Hindu Trimurti. In Rama-centric sects, He is viewed as the Supreme Being, rather than an avatar. He is the embodiment of virtuousness and the steadfast adherence to dharma, or correct action. Additionally, Lord Rama has two meanings : the One who out of His own will assumed the enchanting form of Rama, the son of Dasaratha, and the supreme Brahman, who is the eternally blissful spiritual Self in whom yogis delight.

 Rishi Vyasa says in this Shri Ram Ashtakam that he worships Rama since Sri Rama removes all the sins of the devotees. Sri Rama always makes his devotees happy. He removes fear of his devotees. The teachings of Lord Rama reminds us that sorrow and joy, fear and anger, gain and loss, life and death, indeed everything that happens, is due to the action of fate. Sri Ram’s life and journey is one of perfect adherence to dharma despite harsh tests of life and time. He is pictured as the ideal man and the perfect human. Lord Rama learnt many sadhnas from his Gurus. Lord Rama Showed us that one should always follow the dharma and his Guru in every area of his life.

मुनीन्द्रयज्ञकारकं शिलाविपत्तिहारकम् ।

महाधनुर्विदारकं नमामि राममीश्वरम् ।।2।।

स्वतातवाक्यकारिणं तपोवने विहारिणम् ।

करे सुचापधारिणं नमामि राममीश्वरम् ।।3।।

कुरंगमुक्तसायकं जटायुमोक्षदायकम् ।

प्रविद्धकीशनायकं नमामि राममीश्वरम् ।।4।।

प्लवंगसंगसम्मतिं निबद्धनिम्नगापतिम् ।

दशास्यवंशसंगक्षतिं नमामि राममीश्वरम् ।।5।।

विदीनदेवहर्षणं कपीप्सितार्थवर्षणम् ।

स्वबन्धुशोककर्षणं नमामि राममीश्वरम् ।।6।।

गतारिराज्यरक्षणं प्रजाजनार्तिभक्षणम् ।

कृतास्तमोहलक्षणं नमामि राममीश्वरम् ।।7।।

ह्रताखिलाचलाभरं स्वधामनीतनागरम् ।

जगत्तमोदिवाकरं नमामि राममीश्वरम् ।।8।।

इदं समाहितात्मना नरो रघूत्तमाष्टकम् ।
