The story of Gajendra Moksha is available in the Eighth Skanda of the Shri Madh Bhagavata.
The second chapter describes the battle between Gajendra and the crocodile. The third chapter addresses Gajendra’s worship of the Lord and the context of Gajendra’s Moksha, and the fourth chapter narrates the history of the elephant and the crocodile in their previous lives. The worship in the third chapter is highly beneficial. In the third chapter of the Shri Bhagavad Gita, the Gajendra Moksha Stotra contains the details of the liberation of the elephant.
That is from the mouth of the crocodile. This stotra illustrates how an elephant cannot succeed alone when trying to free itself from the mouth of a crocodile; all its strength vanished. When the elephant was in pain, it called out to Shri Hari. Hearing his cries, Lord Shri Hari came to help him. Thereafter, he used his Sudarshan Chakra to cut off the crocodile’s throat and free the elephant. This proves that if you remember Lord Vishnu during distress and suffering, He will come to your aid.

यह स्तोत्र बताता है कि कैसे, जब एक हाथी मगरमच्छ के मुंह से खुद को मुक्त करने की कोशिश करता है, तो वह इसे अपने दम पर नहीं कर सकता৷ उसकी सारी शक्ति नष्ट हो जाती है৷ जब हाथी को पीड़ा हुई तो उसने श्री हरि को पुकारा৷ उसकी पुकार सुनकर भगवान श्री हरि उसकी सहायता के लिए आए৷ उन्होंने अपने सुदर्शन चक्र का इस्तेमाल मगरमच्छ का गला काटकर हाथी को छुड़ाने के लिए किया৷ यह इस बात का प्रमाण है कि यदि आप भगवान विष्णु को कष्ट और पीड़ा में याद करते हैं, तो भगवान आपकी सहायता के लिए आएंगे৷
