• किसी ब्राहमण या कुलगुरु का अपमान करने से पितृदोष या श्राप दोष होता है।
• ब्राहमण और गाय की हत्या के कारण भी पितृदोष होता है।
• तीर्थ में शारीरिक सम्बन्ध बनाने से पितृ दोष उत्पन्न होता है।
• किसी भी सर्प को मारने से भी पितृ दोष बनता है।
• गंगा जैसे पवित्र नदी में मल-मूत्र त्याग से पितृदोष होता है।
• गुरु की स्त्री के साथ सम्भोग करने से पितृदोष होता है।
• समय पर श्राद ने करने से पितृदोष बनता है।
• मात-पिता की सेवा न करने से भी उत्पन्न संतान की जन्मकुंडली में पितृदोष बनता है
• मरते वक्त कोई इछा पूरी नहीं होने के कारण पितृदोष बनता है।
• पितर को जल नहीं देने के कारण पितृदोष बनता है।
• मंदिर में प्रेम-सम्बंध बनाने से भी पितृ दोष उत्पन्न होता है।
